Description
Chelonioidea The Sea Turtle also known as a marine turtle has seven existing different species found throughout the world's oceans. The flatback, green, hawksbill, leatherback, loggerhead, Kemps ridley, and olive ridley. Five of the seven well researched species are listed on the IUCN Red list of Threatened Species. The leather back is the largest sea turtle of all of these species measuring 4'-5.9' at adulthood and can weigh between 661 lbs.- 1400 lbs. Sea Turtles are usually found in oceans over continental shelves in oceans on earth. Sea Turtles have a fascinating life cycle and it's believed that at maturity between 10-20 years- the females are know to return every two to four years to native beaches to lay their eggs. "Lights out" on these beaches, as this can be detrimental to native nesting areas!
