Description
English Setters are sometimes referred to as the Laverack or Llewellin setter named after their famous breeders Edward Laverack and R. Purcell Llewellin in the early 19th century. This breed is considered to be gentle, but at times strong-willed, yet a mischievous gun dog famous for hunting quail, pheasants, and grouse. Setters hunt by ranging over large distances in a systematic, methodical manner, silently seeking birds of the field by air born scent from a covey or flock. When their prey is found by scenting the air, the dog will freeze in a sort of crouch or "set"- a distinctive stance which is where the term “setter” evolved. Once the dog has indicated where the birds are by setting on point, only by command it would then slowly creep forward to flush the birds into flight. Setters make great companions and are truly delightful to watch work in the field. Show your love for watching your "pride and joy" setter in the field with this one of a kind English Setter buckle. |
